The Pokemon GO Ditto event has just ended and now Pokemon GO players are looking forward to Pokemon GO Gen 2 updates by developer Niantic Labs. It has been at least five months since the release of Pokemon GO and a lot of the players have already caught all the obtainable Pokemon in the game, what is left for them is to keep grinding to reach level 40.
With the Ditto event, that makes 146 obtainable Pokemon in Pokemon GO. What is left now is for Niantic Labs to finally release the three Legendary Birds, Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos, and Mewtwo and Mew to finally complete the original 151 Gen 1 Pokemon.
There were previous Pokemon GO rumors and speculations that say Niantic Labs will proceed with the Pokemon GO Gen 2 updates after Pokemon Trading and Pokemon Battling are finally included in the game.
Based from these rumors, the speculated date of the arrival of Pokemon GO Gen 2 updates will be either in December or January. Niantic Labs is known for making undocumented changes and surprise events in Pokemon GO so there is a chance that they would release these features any time before 2017.
Ditto was released by making it look like other Pokemon in the wild. Niantic Labs only confirmed this event a few days after people already started catching Ditto. This might be a hint on how they will release the Legendary Pokemon in the future.

Since Christmas season is coming, Niantic Labs would surely include an in-game event for Pokemon GO like what they did during the Halloween season. Pokemon GO’s Halloween event included an increased encounter rate for Ghost-type and some Psychic-type Pokemon and additional Pokemon candies gained.
It would be a huge disappointment towards the Pokemon GO fan base if Niantic Labs would stick with the same event this Christmas. With that in mind, there is a chance that Niantic Labs will hold a Legendary Pokemon event where Articuno, Moltres, Zapdos, Mewtwo, and Mew can be caught.
Note that Articuno, Moltres, Zapdos, Mewtwo, and Mew are the strongest Pokemon in Gen 1 and based from the original Pokemon games, they are only one of a kind. Looking back at the Pokemon GO trailer, there was a Mewtwo event teased at that time.
The Mewtwo event that was teased looked like it required the participation of many Pokemon GO players. If one thing is for sure, these Legendary Pokemon will be released through an event. The question that remains is whether or not they will be one of a kind.
