After a long hiatus, the Finnish manufacturer is launching its first Android phone called the Nokia P1 this year. This marks the comeback of the so-called “ancestor of all smartphone brands” so, of course, it’s included in our top 5 gadgets of 2017. A water and dust proof high-end device per Hindustan Times, the Nokia P1 boasts a 5.5 inches screen, Quad HD display, and Nokia level optics and performance.
While Nokia is only starting anew, the specs of this handset have the potential to become a hit if produced well. Fans will have to wait and see whether the device will turn into the brand’s stepping stone into becoming the world’s largest phone manufacturer again.
Nintendo has yet to launch the product in March but it’s already one of the highly anticipated devices this year. Initially codenamed NX, Nintendo Switch is the company’s first hybrid console.
Forbes describes it as a handy game system you can bring anywhere. It transforms itself from being a traditional home console to handheld to accommodate your surroundings, hence the name Switch. The console also houses two removable ‘Joy-Con’ controller sections which are attached at either end of the Switch tablet.
Most details available about the gadget right now are based on rumors. However, more information should arrive soon after the company’s upcoming press event on January 12.
Xbox 2: Project Scorpio
The gadget is deemed as Microsoft’s most powerful gaming console even more powerful than the PlayStation 4 Pro. According to MSN, it features 6 teraflops of graphics processing power and true 4K and VR compatibility. The Xbox 2: Project Scorpio should also be compatible with Xbox One content.
It’s set for a late 2017 release with a price tag between $500-$600.
Samsung Galaxy S8
After Galaxy Note 7’s explosion fiasco last year which resulted in a massive recall, it’s worth looking into how the Korean company would recover. Samsung Galaxy S8 would hopefully do the work.
Samsung’s 2017 flagship will reportedly sport various features like a Snapdragon 835 processor with 6/8GB RAM. Rumored to be highly water resistant with an IP68 certification, it should come with an edge-to-edge full OLED display and all-glass body. Samsung is also expected to implement a display embedded fingerprint scanner.
Google Pixel Notebook
Google is working on combining Android and Chrome OS on more and more devices next year. The new operating system is called the ‘Andromeda.’ According to GamenGadgets, the new Pixel laptop set for launch in Q3 2017 should run the OS first.
The project, named Bison, is reportedly the pinnacle of years of work of the Google’s teams of Pixel and Android. That being said, it’s interesting to see how the finished product will come out.
