Fitbit’s latest smartwatch may be the best alternative to an Apple Watch yet. Introducing the Ionic Versa: a sleek smartwatch that not only boasts of smartwatch features, it also retains basic fitness tracking that Fitbit is known for. Here’s what you need to know.

Fitbit Versa Specs and Features

It’s worth noting that the Versa is not Fitbit’s first venture into the smartwatch market. As some may recall, Fitbit previously dabbled in the smartwatch concept with the Ionic. However, the Ionic did not bode so well with consumers. Regardless, the Versa still comes with most of the Ionic’s features. This is in spite of the price difference between the two.

The Versa seemingly targets a more mainstream audience. It comes preloaded with Fitbit Coach, which provides exercise routines that users can utilize as a guide. It also boasts of several fitness tracking capabilities, including 24/7 heart rate monitoring and sleep tracking.

Besides fitness tracking, the Versa also comes with other smartwatch features, such as smartphone notifications and support for Bluetooth headphones. It can also store up to 300 songs and can pair with Pandora through the use of a mobile phone. Though the Versa does away with built-in GPS, its battery life can at least last up to four days, give or take. The watch itself is also waterproof, allowing for use even when swimming.

One of the most noteworthy details about the Versa is its design. At first glance, it looks nearly identical to the Apple Watch. The Versa’s sleek design is extended to a broad range of color schemes to fit different tastes. Moreover, the Versa also caters to the more fitness-oriented aesthetic with its sweat- and water-resistant sport bands.

Fitbit Versa and Apple Watch

Though the Apple Watch is still a popular option amongst consumers, the Versa is capable of holding its own. Interestingly, the Versa is compatible with not just iOS and Android, but Windows as well. This makes it more universal across multiple platforms. Additionally, with the implementation of an Android phone, the Versa is capable of sending pre-loaded replies to text messages or messages from other apps.

Fitbit is also set to release a female health tracking mode. With this, female users will be able to track their periods (as well as the symptoms and patterns associated with such) through the use of Fitbit’s watch.

Price and Availability

The Fitbit Versa is priced at $199.95. It is now available for pre-order on Fitbit’s website.
