The first iPhone wireless charger that caters to Apple’s Lightning cables is now here. This is all thanks to LXORY and its new charging pad. Called the LXORY Dual Wireless Charging Pad, the device allows users to charge up to three devices at the same time. Two Qi wireless charging pads can be utilized for wireless charging while a USB-A port at the back of the charging pad lets users charge an additional device if need be.
Details on LXORY’s iPhone Wireless Charger
On top of the multi-charging features, the Dual Wireless Charging Pad can also be powered by Apple’s Lightning cable. According to reports, this is a notable feature as it makes LXORY’s new charging pad a first to feature an input for this particular cable. Ultimately, this comes as a convenience for Apple users. Having an input for Lightning cables means that users won’t have to go through the trouble of switching cables when it comes to choosing between wired and wireless charging for their iPhones.
Besides the Lightning cable input, the Dual Wireless Charging Pad can also be powered by a USB-C cable (which comes with the package) or with a micro USB cable. This only makes the charging pad all the more flexible as it can be utilized with a number of cables, depending on what device needs to be charged.
Pros and Cons
LXORY’s pad notably boasts of a temperature sensor which thus protects iPhones from overheating when charging. However, each charging pad only supports an output of 5W. This comes as a bit of a disadvantage for Apple users. The 5W limit means that the wireless fast charging feature of Apple — which requires a 7.5W output — will not be utilized when using the LXORY pad.
The same goes for Samsung users as well. Seeing as Samsung needs a 9W output for fast charging when going wireless, LXORY’s 5W output doesn’t quite fit the bill. Regardless, the device still makes for an interesting addition to the wireless charger market, especially with its inclusion of Lightning cable support.
Another potential downside is the fact that the LXORY Dual Wireless Charging Pad is not certified as an official Lightning product via Apple’s MFi program. This is in spite of the pad’s support for Lightning cables. Such a detail may be worrisome to some potential users, as the pad not being Apple MFi certified suggests that its usability may not be as top-notch as what others may expect.
Price and Where to Buy
With pros and cons being weighed in, there’s no denying that LXORY’s iPhone wireless charger is an affordable product for what it is. Coming in at $28.60 for a wireless charging pad that can charge several devices at the same time, it’s definitely a steal worth considering. You can buy it here.
