The SteelSeries Rival 600 may be the gaming mouse that dreams are made of. When it comes to PC gaming, a mouse is often picked up in the middle of a game, whether it be due to sudden movements or intentional tactics in order to get that one shot just right. However, cursors tend to move on the PC screen once the mouse is placed back down. While this may be a minor detail not worth dwelling over for some, it’s the stuff of nightmares for others, especially during long sessions of gaming.

Enter SteelSeries’ new gaming mouse, the Rival 600. Boasting a dual-sensor system and a 1-to-1 tracking system, the Rival 600 allows users to smoothly enjoy their gaming experience — mouse lifts and all — without the jerky jumps of the cursor onscreen.

SteelSeries Rival 600: How it Works

The Rival 600 boasts of an impressive sensor that assures users of fluid movements and control with the mouse’s cursor. This tracks the mouse’s lift-off distance to an improved level of accuracy. As to when the tracking starts and ends is entirely customizable, thus catering to different mousing needs.

Interior weights give the mouse a sturdy build. These eight 4g weights can be adjusted as well, giving users the option to customize how light or how heavy they need their mouse to be.

Interestingly, the Rival 600’s weights are on the side. This is a bit of a breakaway from other gaming mice, where the adjustable weights are typically found in one area. In effect, the option to switch the amount of weights not only affects the mouse’s actual heaviness, it can also determine its center of gravity.

Other Specs

Similar to SteelSeries’ Sensei 310 and Rival 310, the Rival 600 also features a 12,000 CPI, 350 IPS optical sensor. Additionally, it also has a built-in processor that allows users to save custom lighting effects to jazz up the looks of their gaming mouse. There is also the aspect of button remapping, tweaks in the mouse’s sensitivity, and a fortified trigger system to improve your gaming experience.

Is the SteelSeries Rival 600 For You?

It’s worth noting that cursor tracking when a mouse is in mid-air is nothing new for gaming mice in general. Though it makes for a great addition to SteelSeries’ Rival line, upgrading to the Rival 600 may not be an entirely necessary purchase. This is especially if your gaming mouse is already capable of catering to your personal needs.

If, however, the Rival 600 seems like an appealing addition to your gaming hardware, you can purchase it from SteelSeries or Amazon for $79.99.
